Where did my Facebook videos go?
"Where did my Facebook videos go" is two different questions with the same words, and the answer depends on which one you are asking. Either you are looking for videos you posted, or for videos you saved from other people. Facebook keeps them in different places, and one of them really can vanish without you doing anything.
Videos you posted
These are still yours and they have not gone anywhere. They live in your profile, under a tab that Facebook has moved and renamed several times — look for Videos, or Reels, or under "More" if the tabs have collapsed. On the web you can also reach your own uploads through Activity Log, filtered by category.
If a video you posted is genuinely missing rather than merely hidden, there are only a few explanations. It may have been posted to a group or page that was deleted, in which case the post went with it. It may have been removed for a copyright claim or a policy strike, which usually sends a notification you may not have read. Or its audience was set to Only Me, or to a friends list you have since changed, so it is there and you are looking at a filtered view of your own profile.
Videos you saved
This is the harder case, and the one people usually mean.
Saved posts live at facebook.com/saved on the web, and under the
menu — the three lines — then Saved in the app, sometimes behind "See more".
There is a filter for Videos. It is ordered newest first and there is no search
inside it.
So the first possibility is that the video is still there and you simply cannot find it, because several hundred thumbnails in date order is not something you can search. That is not really "gone", but after twenty minutes of scrolling it may as well be.
The saves that really did disappear
Here is the part that surprises people. Saving a post on Facebook does not give you a copy of it. It points at somebody else's file, and you have no say over what happens to that file.
Your save becomes a grey box, or vanishes from the list entirely, whenever:
- the person who posted it deleted the post;
- they deactivated their account, which takes every post with it;
- they switched to a private account or narrowed the audience so you are no longer in it;
- the video was removed by Facebook for a copyright claim or a policy violation;
- the group or page it lived in was deleted or archived.
None of those produce a notification. The item simply stops being there, and because the list has no search you are unlikely to notice which one went. People usually discover it months later, looking for one specific thing.
What about Download Your Information?
Facebook's export will give you a file of your saved items, and it is worth having. Be clear about what it contains: a list of links, not the videos. Every link points back at the same post that may already be gone, and opening one requires being signed in. It is an index of what you kept, not a copy of it.
The export of your own uploads is different and more useful — that really does contain your video files, and it is the right way to keep your own material.
The only thing that actually prevents this
Everything above depends on somebody else's post still being there. There is one way around that: keep your own copy at the moment you decide you want the video. Your copy does not disappear when their account does.
